When a pair of exposed cards appears, the limit is usually doubled.
Besides the usual bets, there are other types of wagers. Among these are the forced bets. One form of a forced bet is the ante, which is a monetary contribution to the pot. This is the standard poker bet, although other forms are found in some variants of the game. Likewise, a few players may be required to place an ante before the game begins.
There are also no limit games that allow players to wager unlimited amounts during the betting round. As a result, a number of players remain in contention after the final betting round.
Of course, the cheapest way to win is to bet the least amount, but the biggest winner is usually a high-roller. This is often referred to as bluffing. Similarly, the worst kind of bluff is to bet the minimum ante, when the best bluff is to make a huge bet, then fold.
Another trick of the trade is to bet the right sized bet for the right situation. For instance, a lowball game might require a player to make an ante equivalent to the amount of the pot, while a split-pot game might require the same amount of ante for each player, but only one of the players must bet for the entire pot.
Aside from the usual smorgasbord of poker variations, there are also variants that are strictly a video game. Most video poker machines offer simple versions of the games. Alternatively, there are games that combine video poker with other elements, such as baccarat.
